Johnsonville RSA Entertainers

The Johnsonville RSA Entertainers (a Registered Charitable Entity), was founded in 1987 and provides entertainment  of a professional standard for Senior Citizens, the infirm and disadvantaged, etc. at locations in the Wellington area from Upper Hutt to Waikanae.   Performances, which have wide appeal are of one hour to one and a quarter hours duration and consist generally of songs and items (Group & Solo) from the popular shows relative to the age of the audience. Audience participation is encouraged.

 The Group does not make any charge for the entertainment but is grateful for any donations made to help offset costs. We acknowledge with thanks the support of The Lottery Grants Board and COGS (Community Organisation Grants Scheme). Donations and Grants assist with our members' travel expenditure.  At present the Group has 37 Members (all volunteers and mainly retired) including a Musical Director, Pianist, 34 Singers and an MC/Road Manager. On average 20 members are involved in each performance.

As there is a dearth of suitable entertainment for the older age group, the Entertainers are continually in demand with bookings up to 12 months in advance.  The group typically provides around 40 performances per annum.

Once a year, with assistance from the NZ Lottery Grants Board the Group travels to an adjacent provincial location to provide entertainment in those areas.
